About Silverthorn Dog Training Club

Committed to Your Pet's Well-Being

We are a Kennel Club registered obedience club which was established in 1978. We have four classes, Puppy, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

We train for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme using reward based, gentle but firm methods. We do not allow the use of check chains, shock collars, pinch/prong collars or any physical punishment.

During the course of the year we hold various fundraising events and last year raised just over £1,000 for StreetVet.

Positive Reinforcement Training

Our approach emphasizes rewarding desired behaviors to encourage learning and build confidence in your dog.

Puppy Socialization Classes (K.C. Puppy Foundation)

In this class you will meet and socialise with other puppies and learn basic obedience ie, sit, down, stay, food manners and thresholds.

Beginner's Class (K.C. Bronze)

Here you will build on what you learnt in Puppy Class plus controlled lead walking, off lead recalls and more advanced obedience

Intermediate Class (K.C. Silver)

When you have achieved K.C.Bronze you will be invited to move to this class where you will move on to more advanced obedience in a larger group setting including individual off lead work and some outside work.

Advanced Class (K.C. Gold)

This is our highest Class and it is for dogs that have passed K.C. Silver. Here we continue on advanced obedience and off lead work as a group.

Each class finishes every session with a fun, bonding exercise which can be jumping, scenting or tunnel work
